About the role

Senior design leadership role focused on evolving Mercury’s core experiences with AI-native, conversational, adaptive, and proactive interfaces. Leads product designers, shapes interaction philosophy and product strategy, partners cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Design Systems, and contributes to the design organization’s craft and thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve Mercury’s interaction philosophy, focusing on AI-native, conversational, adaptive, and proactive experiences across products
  • Set a high bar for product quality across Interfaces, helping teams like mobile, dashboard, and agentic product understand not only usability but the rationale behind good experiences
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers, fostering risk-taking, strong point of view, and exceptional output
  • Shape product strategy alongside Product and Engineering, bringing design into ambiguous problems early and helping teams identify problems to solve
  • Stay close to the work through critique, prototyping, exploration, and hands-on collaboration to turn ambitious concepts into thoughtful, pragmatic experiences
  • Raise the craft and product-thinking bar of Mercury’s Design organization by sharing frameworks and ideas to elevate others' design work

Qualifications

  • Experience designing AI-powered or consumer software
  • Strong prototyping skills
  • Close partnership with Design Systems
  • Deep motion and interaction expertise (desirable)
  • High-quality thinking and work over checklist-driven qualifications
  • Ability to lead and develop product designers while maintaining hands-on involvement
  • Independent with strong point of view; strategic cross-functional partner with Product and Engineering
