About the role

Senior Software Engineer role on Cloudflare’s Network Services team, focused on large-scale, distributed networking systems, including BGP, flow/log collection, Linux kernel dataplane, and control plane systems. Hybrid role with locations in Austin TX, Champaign IL, Lisbon Portugal, and London England.

Responsibilities

  • Work across a wide range of technologies and systems to deliver new features, improve performance, and increase the scalability of Cloudflare’s Network Services products.
  • Build, deploy, and operate team systems on top of one of the largest edge networks in the world.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to solve large-scale networking problems and implement end-to-end solutions.
  • Own solutions end-to-end and drive the design, development, and deployment process.
  • Work across teams to design sustainable, cross-cutting solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience building and shipping large-scale, reliable, highly distributed systems
  • Systems-level programming experience, especially in Go and Rust
  • Expertise in L3 and L4 networking protocols
  • Experience building on top of Linux kernel networking primitives – netfilter, nftables, eBPF, tc, network namespaces, etc
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend systems
  • Experience with large-scale distributed data pipelines, data structuring, querying, and analysis
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to solve complex customer problems
  • Ability to work across teams and drive common solutions
  • Creative, open-minded, collaborative problem solver
  • Focus on clarity in written and verbal communication
