About the role

Director role to lead Cloudflare’s physical environment strategy, combining high-level strategic vision with AI-driven, data-informed design and construction of global office spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Physical Execution & Cultural Identity: Lead the physical realization of Cloudflare’s global offices. Direct architects, general contractors, and artists to design and build spaces that authentically capture the vibe and culture of each local hub, ensuring every environment feels uniquely Cloudflare, inspiring, and functional.
  • Conceptualize and execute the AI Workflow: Architect how AI and automation can revolutionize legacy design and construction phases. Map out opportunities to eliminate manual bottlenecks across the project lifecycle—vendor onboarding/benchmarking, contracting, cost estimation, budget/project tracking, and risk identification—via automated review pipelines and data-driven quality controls.
  • Drive Spatial Experimentation: Implement data-collection methods (utilization tracking, employee feedback loops) to evolve global footprints based on findings.
  • Evolve the Design Framework: Use data insights and post-occupancy metrics to challenge design assumptions. Lead change management and champion a generative design–supported “kit of parts” for global serviced offices.
  • Predictive Capital & Site Strategy: Collaborate with Real Estate and FP&A on predictive modeling for site selection, due diligence, project cash flows, and financial risk mitigation.
  • CapEx Budget Ownership & Financial Governance: Own global CapEx budget, deliver multi-year financial forecasting and executive-level reporting.
  • Executive Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as liaison between internal executives and external delivery partners, aligning Physical Security, IT, Legal, and Workplace leadership under a unified project pipeline.
  • Lifecycle Handover & Commissioning: Establish commissioning protocols for handovers from construction to local Workplace Operations teams.
  • Global Pipeline Governance & Compliance: Oversee a global project pipeline across international hubs, ensuring compliance with local laws and sustainable building standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Project Management, Interior Design, or Engineering
  • 10-12+ years of experience leading interior design and complex construction project management in high-growth tech or global enterprises
  • Proven track record directing a global corporate office portfolio >250,000+ total square feet
  • Knowledge of MEP, architectural principles, AV/IT with vision for automation of building systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional influence across time zones
  • Global mobility and willingness to work in-office ~3 days a week with travel flexibility
  • Willingness to travel globally to oversee high-stakes projects
