About the role

Senior Backend Engineer at Peec AI responsible for building and improving the data plane and backend systems for AI visibility, including scraping, chat-processing, source-ingestion, and analytics infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own the systems behind Peec AI's data plane (scraping, chat-processing, source-ingestion, analytics infrastructure) to be more reliable, cheaper, faster, and easier to reason about
  • Debug provider outages, design better queueing models, ship TypeScript service changes, and document postmortems or follow-up tickets for clarity
  • Operate and maintain systems under real production pressure (incidents, outages, escalations, noisy alerts)
  • Build durable fixes addressing issues like rate limits, retries, backpressure, and cost constraints
  • Work across layers (application code, logs, metrics, queues, provider APIs, databases, network, deployment state) and contribute to system design decisions

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems engineering experience in a production environment
  • Deep hands-on TypeScript experience (Bun runtime)
  • Strong understanding of queues, workers, retries, rate limits, idempotency, distributed locks, webhooks, and failure handling
  • Experience operating systems under production pressure (incidents, outages, escalations, noisy alerts)
  • Comfort with cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes, Cloud Tasks, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgres, Firestore, ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • Ability to debug across layers (application, logs, metrics, queues, provider APIs, databases, network, deployment)
  • Product-minded judgement with awareness of customer impact, security, and cost implications
  • High ownership and low ego with bias toward durable fixes
