About the role

Frontline physician on the Blueberry Balance program, delivering pediatric metabolic health care to adolescents, including intake, care planning, GLP-1 therapy management, and coordinated multidisciplinary care within a remote, 1099-part-time model.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive patient intake for adolescents entering the program, including history, risk factors, and eligibility review
  • Order appropriate labs and review results, escalating findings that fall outside program guardrails
  • Meet with patients and their families to design an appropriate, individualized care plan grounded in each teen's goals and clinical picture
  • Prescribe and manage GLP-1 therapy where clinically appropriate, always within a holistic plan that includes nutrition and behavioral support — and know when medication is not the right answer
  • Manage ongoing care for patients and families over time: monitoring visits, dose management, side-effect and safety management, and adherence support
  • Coordinate with other care team members — physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and health coaches — so each family experiences one cohesive care plan rather than a set of disconnected touchpoints
  • Follow the program's clinical protocols and escalation pathways, and surface complex or ambiguous cases to the Physician Lead

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with active, unrestricted medical license in good standing
  • Comfort and credibility caring for adolescents and their families
  • Interest in adolescent and obesity medicine, and a willingness to complete light onboarding training in weight/obesity management and GLP-1 therapy
  • Availability of 20–80 hours per month, starting on the lower end and scaling up as the program grows
  • Strong written communication; comfort operating in an asynchronous, distributed telehealth care team
