About the role

Senior Software Engineer on the Patient Services team responsible for architecting a high-throughput, distributed platform serving as the single source of truth for all patient data. Lead technical strategy for scalable, resilient backend data systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to shape the engineering roadmap and product vision.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the high-throughput, distributed platform that serves as the single source of truth for all patient data across Rula
  • Lead the technical strategy for core backend data systems to be massively scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant
  • Tackle complex distributed systems challenges where performance, uptime, and data integrity impact patient care
  • Drive zero-to-one architectural decisions during a growth phase
  • Mentor high-performing engineers, establish operational rigor
  • Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to shape engineering roadmap and product vision

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related professional experience
  • Experience building distributed and event driven systems
  • Experience with microservice development
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Fluency in AI assisted development tools and frameworks. Able to leverage AI assisted coding tools to improve velocity and automate boilerplate tasks while setting and maintaining the right quality guardrails
  • Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns
