About the role
Neko is redefining prevention with a rapid, data-driven approach to care. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer closes the gap between development and production, ensuring designs are ready to manufacture and scale.
Responsibilities
- Design readiness before release: Decide what needs proving before a design is released and how to prove it quickly; design and build prototypes and test setups to answer function, dimensional behaviour, robustness, and subsystem integration; assess manufacturability and assemblability with input from manufacturing; work hands-on with other design engineers to shorten the design-to-answer loop; use in-house prototyping resources and coordinate with manufacturers to obtain prototype parts early; develop readiness assessment methods across products.
- Design feedback from production: Work with production engineering on production issues; correct CAD and drawings and release them quickly; operate within design control and medical device change processes to rapidly implement feedback.
- Product design ownership: Collaborate with principal product owners and close the manufacturing readiness gap; own or co-own a product’s mechanical design where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Mechanical design and CAD depth, proven on products brought from design into production
- Hands-on build and rapid prototyping experience
- Time spent on a production floor, close to how products are built and assembled
- Design for manufacturing and design for assembly, applied in practice
- Devising and running practical tests, and judging what’s worth testing and when
- Fluent in drawings, tolerancing and tolerance stack-up
- Comfortable working inside a controlled release and engineering change process
- Self-driven and able to set own agenda
- Works well with manufacturing and sourcing, receptive to critical feedback on design
- Bonus: experience with regulated products/medical devices or regulated industries
- Bonus: familiarity with ISO 13485 or EU MDR design control
