About the role

Senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing Versapay’s enterprise data strategy, driving integration of transactional, operational, behavioral, relational, and intent data into a unified backbone to enable AI-powered features, semantic models, and data products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive Versapay’s enterprise data strategy, aligning the data roadmap to product, AI, and commercial objectives.
  • Lead the architectural convergence of transactional, operational, and analytical data layers into a unified, bi-directional operational backbone.
  • Own a multi-year data maturity roadmap with milestones across architecture, semantics, governance, and accessibility.
  • Champion a business-first data modelling philosophy: canonical hierarchies, enterprise ontologies, and shared metric catalogs for consistent data interpretation by humans and AI.
  • Operationalize data governance as a first-class concern with automated classification, RBAC enforcement, platform SLAs, and certified data objects.
  • Formalize the Enterprise Data Catalogue with a searchable, self-service discovery layer.
  • Deploy and maintain an executive data health dashboard for data estate health and integrity.
  • Enforce the data procurement gate for new tools and systems entering the estate.
  • Build and own the Enterprise Data Asset Registry for secure internal and partner data sharing.
  • Drive data infrastructure readiness to support AI roadmap (ML pipelines, LLM serving layers, agentic serving tiers).
  • Establish formal schema contracts and semantic modelling standards for safe, scalable agent deployment.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to enable agentic capabilities (reverse data flow, predictive model productization, real-time data serving).
  • Govern data and AI exposure to ensure sensitive data stays within approved platforms and external data products meet quality, lineage, and privacy standards.
  • Evolve the function to a product-oriented organization with a governed, discoverable asset registry.
  • Operationalize external data products for commercialization within consent and compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with the commercial team on data product strategy to turn proprietary network data into recurring revenue.
  • Expand self-service data access while protecting compute, governance, and capacity.
  • Lead and grow the Data Platform Team and collaborate with Embedded Analytics, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Serve as a cross-functional bridge to ensure data serves Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, and Legal/Compliance.
  • Build a culture of data discipline ensuring discoverability and trust across the organization.
  • Represent the data function at the executive level and contribute to the broader AI and product roadmap.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data leadership, with at least 5+ years at the Director level owning enterprise data strategy, architecture, or governance.
  • Demonstrated track record of modernizing and unifying multi-source data environments at scale, preferably in SaaS, fintech, or payments.
  • Deep expertise in the modern data stack: cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred), lakehouse architectures, ETL frameworks, and semantic/canonical modelling.
  • Strong evidence of applying AI/ML infrastructure, with governance, observability, and semantic standards underpinning safe, scalable AI deployment.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing technical teams and collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Commercial.
  • Experience governing data for commercial use: external data products, consent frameworks, lineage standards, and privacy compliance.
  • Exceptional communication skills for executive audiences and cross-functional alignment.
  • Experience managing data warehouse costs and forecasting.
  • Experience hiring and managing talent across data functions (BI, Analytics, Data Engineering, CI/CD of data platforms).
