About the role

Hybrid role based in Hong Kong; embedded with enterprise customers to architect and deploy production systems on Telnyx's global network (voice, messaging, AI, wireless) in a pod with an Enterprise AE. Focus on technical discovery, architecture, POC, and production go-live to deliver enterprise workloads and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Embed with enterprise customers to understand their communications workflows, AI use cases, and integration challenges firsthand
  • Build and deploy custom implementations: AI Voice Assistants, Telnyx APIs (Voice, Messaging, Fax, Wireless), WebRTC
  • Run open-weight LLMs in customer environments or deploy self-hosted stacks behind serving engine
  • Deploy and operate LiteLLM as the model gateway in customer environments
  • Instrument and govern LLM usage through the gateway — cost tracking, caching, logging and observability, guardrails
  • Wire production observability for everything you ship — metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting
  • Design model routing strategies for real-time voice workloads with latency/cost/quality tradeoffs
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions between self-hosted and hosted APIs; keep customer code portable
  • Adapt models to customer domains: prompt/RAG pipelines for English, Cantonese, Mandarin; HK/APAC regulatory environments
  • Lead POCs, pilots, and production launches from whiteboard to go-live
  • Own customer outcomes and stay engaged until solution is live and stable
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap from field insights in HK/Greater China/APAC
  • Create clear technical documentation, runbooks, and maintainable solutions for handoff
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues with customer teams

Qualifications

  • CS degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years building and shipping production software
  • Proficiency in Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Go
  • Understanding of production issues around models: rate limits, timeouts, retries, cost attribution, concurrency failures
  • Experience deploying containerized services on Kubernetes
  • Observability experience: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Graylog/ELK or equivalents
  • High-concurrency experience with Kafka or similar
  • API development from scratch (OpenAPI, REST/GraphQL, auth, rate limiting, versioning, idempotency)
  • Event-driven/cloud-native mindset
  • Exposure to SIP, WebRTC, real-time voice/messaging systems
  • Self-sufficient, autonomous working style on customer sites
  • Customer-facing engineering experience and ability to run discovery with customer teams
  • Strong English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) communication skills
  • Based in Hong Kong or willing to relocate; legally authorized to work in HK or eligible for sponsorship
