About the role

Embedded engineering role focused on architecting and shipping production telecom/AI solutions for enterprise customers in LATAM, jointly with an Enterprise AE. The role blends technical discovery, architecture, POC development, and production go-live to deliver workload-driven outcomes on Telnyx primitives (voice, messaging, wireless, AI, inference). Hybrid Bogotá-based with regional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Embed with enterprise customers to understand their communications workflows, AI use cases, and integration challenges firsthand
  • Build and deploy custom implementations: AI Voice Assistants, Telnyx APIs (Voice, Messaging, Fax, Wireless), WebRTC
  • Run open-weight LLMs in customer environments or deploy self-hosted stacks behind your own serving engine
  • Deploy and operate LiteLLM as the model gateway in customer environments
  • Instrument and govern LLM usage through the gateway with cost tracking, caching, logging and observability
  • Wire production observability for everything you ship (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting)
  • Design model routing strategies for real-time voice workloads with latency/cost/quality considerations
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions between self-hosted models and hosted APIs, ensuring portable code
  • Adapt models to customer domains and regulatory environments (Spanish/Portuguese/English, LATAM laws)
  • Lead POCs, pilots, and production launches from whiteboard to go-live
  • Own customer outcomes and stay engaged until solution is live and stable
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap from field insights in LATAM
  • Create technical documentation, runbooks, and maintainable handoff solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues with customer teams

Qualifications

  • CS degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years building and shipping production software
  • Proficiency in Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Go
  • Understanding of production model reliability (rate limits, timeouts, retries, token accounting)
  • Experience deploying containerized services on Kubernetes with secrets/config management
  • Strong observability experience (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Graylog/ELK)
  • High-concurrency experience with Kafka or similar
  • Experience building APIs from scratch (OpenAPI, REST/GraphQL, auth, rate limiting, versioning, idempotency)
  • Event-driven thinking and cloud-native instincts
  • Exposure to SIP, WebRTC, or real-time voice/messaging systems
  • Self-sufficient, customer-facing engineering capability
  • Customer-facing engineering experience with ability to present to executives
  • Ability to diagnose root causes and communicate effectively in English and Spanish
  • Based in Bogotá or willing to relocate; hybrid role with travel within Colombia and LATAM
  • Legally authorized to work in Colombia or eligible for sponsorship
