About the role

Head of Data Platform Engineering responsible for owning and building the company-wide data platform, from moving data out of production systems into a trusted warehouse to modeling, governance, and serving data to analysts, product features, and ML systems. Hands-on leadership to set architecture, build core components early, and grow the team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end data platform architecture from source systems to serving, deciding where the stack consolidates (Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, Sigma, Hex) and when to rebuild or move toward a lakehouse pattern
  • Design the path for order data as it moves off legacy monoliths to a new source of truth, including event consumption and change data capture through to projections
  • Establish rigorous data modeling and a single semantic layer so metrics (revenue, conversion, retention) have one definition, with testing, monitoring, and SLAs
  • Provide feature and serving infrastructure that enables restaurant ML to run safely and reproducibly, and manage warehouse cost and performance as a first-class metric
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, VP of Business Operations, orders and payments teams, BizOps and GTM analytics, Product, Finance, and data scientists to build on the platform

Qualifications

  • Approximately 10+ years in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering
  • 3–5 years leading and building teams that others depend on
  • Treats pipelines like software: version control, code review, automated tests, schema/data contracts, CI/CD
  • Deep hands-on experience with modern data stack (cloud data warehouse/lakehouse, dbt, orchestration, batch and streaming technologies)
  • Strong data modeling and SQL plus production-quality Python; ownership of data reliability with SLAs/SLOs, monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis
  • Governance experience across lineage, cataloging, access control, including PII and payments data; understanding of AI/ML risk boundaries
