About the role

Senior Windows Software Engineer role on the Zero Trust team, focused on developing the Zero Trust desktop client with high-performance networking across multiple desktop platforms, primarily using Rust, with strong emphasis on Windows internals, security, and scalable, well-documented code.

Responsibilities

  • Predominantly use Rust along platform-native languages & APIs to implement high-performance networking code for multiple desktop platforms.
  • Improve code quality and build solid, testable, well-documented foundations.
  • Interact with languages such as Swift, C#, C, and Python.
  • Contribute to design and implementation of major development projects, coordinating with product managers and other teams to deliver customer-impacting features.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows internals, kernel-mode programming, and network protocols
  • Experience in low-level Windows driver development, ideally network drivers
  • Excellent programming skills with high-quality, low-complexity code and thorough documentation
  • Experience writing easily-testable and thoroughly-tested code (e.g. dependency injection with proper abstractions)
  • Strong experience with Rust, C, C++
  • Ability to write multithreaded, asynchronous code
  • Experience debugging network-related problems
  • Understanding of VPN technologies, privacy, security, and anonymity trade-offs
  • Knowledge of security protocols and standards
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical bar through code review and knowledge sharing
  • Experience owning technical designs end-to-end, writing specs and design docs coordinating across engineers and teams
  • Track record debugging complex issues spanning team and system boundaries
  • Empathetic, proactive, and constructive communication skills (verbal and written)
