About the role

Hands-on, consultative build partner to a portfolio of Cloudflare's strategic customers, shaping architecture, prototyping, reviewing code, and unblocking technical problems to help customers build and scale on the Cloudflare platform. Hybrid role based in London, UK.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the hands-on technical build partner across a portfolio of strategic customers building on the Cloudflare platform, driving each engagement forward from idea to launch.
  • Shape scalable, resilient architectures on Cloudflare and guide customers on design decisions that matter.
  • Hands-on development alongside customer teams to prototype, configure, and build reference implementations.
  • Review customer code and share best practices to raise quality, performance, and security.
  • Diagnose and resolve hard technical problems across the stack to enable successful launches.
  • Write reference code, samples, and technical guidance for customers to learn from and reuse.
  • Support the full breadth of the Cloudflare platform (Workers, storage such as KV, R2, D1, Durable Objects, AI offerings, security, networking, observability).
  • Join Customer Engineering rituals (design reviews, planning sessions, technical working sessions).
  • Surface real-world edge cases, friction, and product gaps to Cloudflare Product and Engineering teams to influence roadmap.
  • Establish and maintain trusted technical relationships with customer engineers and technical leaders (Staff+ engineers, Directors, VPs).
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate adoption of Cloudflare services across each customer’s tech stack.

Qualifications

  • Proven Engineering Pedigree & Customer-Facing Experience: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience including customer-facing roles (forward deployed, solutions or sales engineering, professional services, or developer relations).
  • Languages: TypeScript, Rust, and Go.
  • Active Practitioner: ship-first mentality with high velocity, current with modern frameworks, languages, deployment patterns.
  • Full-Stack Architectural Depth: fluency across frontend, backend, data/storage, and distributed infrastructure.
  • Production Maturity: experience owning mission-critical services with real-world users and incident response.
  • AI-Native Development: experience integrating AI-augmented workflows into daily development (e.g., Windsurf, OpenCode).
  • Systems Design & Strategic Thinking: ability to decompose complex requirements into scalable architectures.
  • Cloud Ecosystem Fluency: deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including serverless, networking, and security primitives.
  • High Agency & Navigating Ambiguity: self-starter in zero-to-one environments.
  • Executive Presence: comfortable engaging with VP-level stakeholders and translating trade-offs into business impact.
