About the role

Senior Forward Deployed Engineer embedded with strategic customer engineering teams to build, deploy, and influence Cloudflare solutions at scale. Combines production-grade coding, platform advocacy, and deep technical partnership with customers to ship faster and influence product direction.

Responsibilities

  • Deep Technical Embedding: Serve as the dedicated, long-term technical partner within a strategic customer’s engineering organization, operating as a trusted extension of their team.
  • Production-Level Engineering: Design, build, and deploy production-ready code and configurations directly into customer infrastructure using the Cloudflare platform.
  • Technical Accountability: Own the account's technical success across the Cloudflare portfolio and serve as the primary technical point of contact.
  • Operational Integration: Participate in customer engineering rituals, including daily standups, design reviews, and real-time incident response.
  • Platform Advocacy & Adoption: Identify opportunities to accelerate the adoption of Cloudflare services across the customer’s tech stack.
  • Platform Breadth & Depth: Demonstrate deep technical competence across Workers, security, networking, observability, and other Cloudflare product areas.
  • Feedback Loop & Product Influence: Surface real-world edge cases and product gaps to influence the developer platform roadmap.
  • Strategic Relationship Management: Establish and maintain trusted technical relationships with senior leadership.
  • On-Site Presence: Maintain regular on-site presence at customer locations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Languages: TypeScript, Rust, Golang.
  • Production Ownership & Operational Maturity: Experience with mission-critical services, on-call rotations, incident response, and high-uptime architectures.
  • Active Practitioner: Ship-first mentality with current hands-on development experience and modern framework knowledge.
  • Full-Stack Architectural Depth: Fluency across frontend, backend, databases, and distributed infrastructure.
  • AI-Native Development: Experience integrating AI-augmented workflows into development cycles.
  • Systems Design & Strategic Thinking: Ability to decompose requirements into scalable architectures and visualize the big picture.
  • Cloud Ecosystem Fluency: Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) including serverless, networking, and security primitives.
  • High Agency & Navigating Ambiguity: Self-starter comfortable in zero-to-one environments and end-to-end ownership.
  • Executive Presence: Experience communicating with VP-level stakeholders on technical and business trade-offs.
