About the role

Senior technical leader building and scaling AI/ML-powered patient experiences across matching, ranking, recommendations, onboarding, and personalization; responsible for production ML systems, reusable infrastructure, and collaboration with the ML team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve production models and AI-powered systems for patient experiences
  • Build critical capabilities for Patient Engineering and partner with Rula's ML team on infrastructure, models, standards, and architecture
  • Develop models and reusable capabilities, or determine appropriate mix of custom ML, foundation models/AI services, deterministic software, or hybrids
  • Enable Patient Engineering to deliver better intelligent patient experiences with faster, higher-quality AI/ML delivery
  • Provide technical leadership across the ML lifecycle, including problem formulation, data/feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software and/or ML engineering experience with production ML systems in a measurable product or business impact
  • Proficiency in Python and building scalable systems, including production-quality code
  • Deep hands-on ML expertise across problem formulation, data/feature engineering, model development/training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Experience building shared ML infrastructure or reusable capabilities (feature infrastructure, training/inference pipelines, model serving, evaluation, observability, lifecycle tooling)
  • Deep experience with recommendation/ranking/personalization/matching systems with evaluation linking offline performance to online outcomes
  • Hands-on experience with modern foundation model/GenAI systems in production (evaluation, reliability, latency, cost, privacy/safety)
  • Ability to set technical direction across teams, mentor senior engineers, and decide when to use custom ML, foundation models, deterministic approaches, or hybrids
