About the role

Fullstack engineers at Fly are versatile, responsible for cross-vertical adoption journeys—from first touch to first deploy, through billing, and project administration across Fly and Sprites. The role spans front-end, back-end, and interaction design, with a focus on stitching APIs, improving reliability, and driving user-centric features across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in Elixir/Phoenix and Ruby/Rails, with potential exposure to JavaScript, Golang, or other languages/frameworks used at Fly.
  • Stitch APIs for new features and refine existing code and telemetry to identify and fix reliability issues across multiple layers.
  • Understand user needs and drive features that improve the adoption journey, billing path, and project administration across Fly and Sprites.
  • Ship tightly scoped features with rapid iterations, using coding agents as accelerators while keeping human oversight before release.
  • Operate with a strong UX-driven mindset due to the unique product-management approach at Fly.
  • Contribute to cross-vertical work that may come from various teams including go-to-market and engineering to deliver end-to-end experiences.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Elixir/Phoenix and Ruby/Rails; comfort with Go and JavaScript or other common stacks at Fly.
  • Strong ability to understand systems across multiple layers and keep a mental model of ambitious features.
  • Experience leveraging AI and agents to achieve outcomes quickly.
  • Comfort with a product-management style that relies on user-driven feature ideation without a formal PM for this role.
