About the role

Senior-level role focused on the overall health and scalability of HighLevel’s distributed systems. Starts with Workflows and expands to Conversations and Ticketing, owning architecture, identifying systemic risks, and ensuring the platform scales reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture health of a billion-scale distributed system, its failure modes, capacity limits, consistency guarantees, and interactions between 50+ deployments
  • Approve critical-path designs. Changes touching the system's core go through you, accountable for the whole staying sound
  • Hunt gaps proactively, single points of failure, unbounded queues, missing idempotency, thundering herds, data-loss windows, and drive fixes before incidents
  • Build the parts nobody else can. Prototype risky architectural bets, ship remediation after serious incidents, and pair into cross-team bugs
  • Make resilience a property of the system, including degradation strategies, backpressure, isolation boundaries, and capacity models that withstand growth
  • Raise the teams around you with design reviews, post-mortems that change architecture, and reusable patterns
  • Set the standard for AI-assisted engineering on critical systems to prevent costly failures

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience with deep ownership of large-scale distributed systems
  • Sole accountability for a production system through real failures
  • Deep knowledge of queueing and async architectures, delivery semantics, ordering, backpressure, idempotency, exactly-once / at-least-once concepts
  • Strong experience with multiple storage engines (SQL and NoSQL), understanding of consistency models and scaling
  • Expertise in Redis or similar in-memory systems and their failure modes
  • Production experience on Kubernetes at scale, including resource limits and autoscaling behavior
  • Exceptional design communication, documentation, diagrams, and RCAs that drive multi-team decisions
  • Fluent in Node.js and/or Go and able to prototype and ship on the critical path
