About the role

Senior Analytics Engineer to own telemetry instrumentation, data pipelines, and executive-facing dashboards to measure and improve Block's AI investment and developer experience. Focus on defining new metrics, building governed data, and creating decision-ready narratives for executives, incorporating AI-first workflows and agent productivity measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Instrument and extend raw telemetry about AI usage, code changes, CI/CD activity, and spend; build new data capture and pipelines.
  • Partner with data engineers on production ETL pipelines that land telemetry into governed tables, with freshness monitoring, backfills, and alerting.
  • Define new metrics from evolving signals and validate them to gain stakeholder trust.
  • Build and ship executive-facing dashboards and visualizations turning governed metrics into decision-ready reporting.
  • Run analyses for new charts or metrics and defend methodology to senior stakeholders with actionable recommendations.
  • Translate complex findings into concise narratives to drive executive action.
  • Use AI coding agents as a default part of building and maintaining pipelines, dashboards, and analyses.
  • Partner with data engineering, applied AI, and data science teams to maintain end-to-end telemetry connectivity.
  • Identify where AI spend isn’t paying off or where developer friction is costly and push changes to tooling, process, or investment.
  • Contribute to quantifying AI and agent productivity impact and help set industry standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or business intelligence, owning production data pipelines and insights end to end.
  • Strong SQL and Python; hands-on experience with data pipelines in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake.
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams to instrument new event or telemetry data, not just transform existing signals.
  • Experience building dashboards or internal tools used by non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort with git, CI/CD systems, and debugging production pipeline failures (retries, backfills).
