About the role

Experienced Data Centre Facilities Engineer responsible for operating and maintaining scalable data centre and colocation infrastructure, ensuring 100% uptime, and handling build-outs and coordination with internal teams and external providers.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between internal teams and external data centres and colocation service providers to ensure 100% uptime across critical facilities portfolio
  • Involved with technical project management and the build out/fit out of data centres and colocation sites
  • Demonstrate knowledge of interdependencies of data centre functions and technologies and make well-reasoned engineering decisions related to operational risk
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments and external vendors, contractors, consultants and operations teams
  • Support systems maintenance, operations and response efforts to critical system emergencies, including night and weekend work as needed
  • Travel 4-6 weeks per year

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, design, commissioning, construction, maintenance or operations of mission-critical data centres, trading floors or similar 24/7 facilities
  • Experience managing projects and operations supporting mission-critical facilities; able to manage data centre providers and devise creative solutions
  • Strong communication skills; able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and describe problems concisely
  • Familiar with MEP components such as Switchgear, UPS, Generator, STS, PDU, RPP, Chillers, CRAH units, VESDA, pre-action and BMS; understanding of redundancy levels
  • Knowledge of reactive maintenance, including review and supervision of SOPs, EOPs and MOPs
  • High-level understanding of IT requirements within a data centre and ability to liaise with IT groups to gather build requirements
  • Creative, collaborative, enthusiastic, organized, and able to balance evolving workloads
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed (4-6 weeks per year)
  • Fluent in English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin a plus
  • Knowledge of direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems a plus
