About the role
Director, Strategic Finance leads financial planning and strategy for Bisnow, serves as a direct partner to the CEO, and directly reports into finance. Responsible for the forecast, the analytical case behind investments and headcount, and the external financial narrative for investors.
Responsibilities
- Own the forecast and the process that produces it — the leading indicators, historical benchmarks, and sales-input rhythm that make an unpredictable business plannable.
- Make the analytical case for where the next dollar and the next hire go. Explain not just what the P&L did, but why a new event category matters, what a digital investment should return, and where the multi-year path leads.
- Pressure-test optimism as rigorously as pessimism. Surface initiatives that aren’t scaling, identify if assumptions are no longer valid, and advise on what the company should stop doing.
- Own planning for the business units outside the core events budget, with a closer look at digital and new initiatives, and partner with department leaders on staffing plans and business cases behind headcount.
- Own the quality of the numbers and how they get produced. Ensure consistency and eliminate manual bridging; evaluate FP&A tooling to improve efficiency.
- Set the standard for the function by guiding the FP&A Manager, raising the ceiling on what the team can own, and maintaining high analytical and writing standards.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years in FP&A, strategic finance, or corporate finance, with clear progression in scope and ownership.
- Has owned a company-level or major-segment forecast (multi-business-line or multi-entity experience preferred).
- Forecast experience with lumpier, project-based revenue (events, media, marketplace, etc.).
- Exceptional written communication for boards, PE sponsors, or corporate parents; able to present to individuals.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar, complex businesses and economics of revenue lines within ~60 days.
- Expert financial modeling and advanced Excel; NetSuite or comparable ERP, Salesforce, and BI fluency welcome.
- Track record of replacing manual reporting with scalable solutions; FP&A platform selection/implementation experience a plus; familiarity with AI in finance.
- Experience managing or developing finance talent (direct report on day one).
- Ability to form a view and make recommendations; high accountability and low ego.
