Senior Product Manager - Consumer Credit Card
Hybrid (San Francisco, NY, Portland, remote (Canada/US))$200.7k - $250.9kfull-timePosted 2w ago
About the role
Mercury is building its first consumer credit card. The Senior Product Manager will define, ship, and grow the card from a first cohort into a portfolio, owning the end-to-end credit account experience including acquisition, application, approval, underwriting, line management, rewards, and day-to-day experience.
Responsibilities
- Build a card people put at the front of the wallet and recommend without being asked
- Take the card from zero to launch: decide what ships first, and carry it through program setup and compliance sign-off
- Make the approval the clearest and fastest in the category: underwriting owns the model, you own the application, the wait, and the answer
- Own how customers experience their line: an increase that feels earned, a decrease that is explained
- Own the proposition we take to customers, from rewards and redemption to pricing, and understand the economics that fund it
- Set the craft bar: copy, disclosures, latency, empty states, and overall polish
- Drive the use of AI to improve the experience in meaningful ways
- Make correctness and trust product features: own balances, interest, minimum payments, and statements that reconcile
- Grow the business: own acquisition, activation, retention, and compounding loops for Mercury’s existing businesses
- Align the ecosystem: coordinate engineering, design, data, risk, compliance, legal, marketing, support, and partners behind a cohesive card plan
Qualifications
- 6+ years building consumer products, including at least one where money moved and errors were expensive
- Fluency in credit, or ability to acquire it quickly (approval rates, line assignment, vintage curves, charge-off, interchange, rewards liability)
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration across engineering, design, data, risk, compliance, and partners
- Sound judgment in a regulated environment balancing user experience with necessary controls
- Customer-centered, data-driven, and experimentation-oriented approach
- Shipped AI-led products to real consumers with informed opinions on AI capabilities and limitations
- Nice to have: card issuing, lending, or payments experience; familiarity with Reg Z and the CARD Act
- Experience shipping products that require collaboration across multiple stakeholders
