About the role

Senior Software Engineer to join Cloudflare's WARP Mobile SDK team, defining client architecture and public APIs for native iOS and Android SDKs, and driving compatibility, diagnostics, performance, and release quality across mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Define the client architecture and public APIs for native iOS and Android SDKs, working from deep expertise in at least one of those ecosystems.
  • Establish foundations that are testable, well-documented, lightweight, and straightforward for customer engineering teams to integrate and operate.
  • Set standards for compatibility, diagnostics, performance, and release quality across mobile platforms.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering partners to turn security problems into dependable developer products.
  • Mentor native mobile engineers and help resolve complex customer integration issues.
  • Carry distributed software from design through production operation with strong native engineering judgment.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience building production software for either iOS with Swift or Android with Kotlin, and familiarity with the other ecosystem to guide shared architectural decisions
  • Experience designing or owning customer-distributed SDKs, libraries, or similarly constrained developer-facing products
  • Experience with mobile platform security concepts (app and device integrity, secure key storage, application signing, authentication, secure communications)
  • Familiarity with native mobile networking stacks, HTTP APIs, and integration challenges from different architectures and networking libraries
  • Experience diagnosing production issues crossing app, SDK, network, and service boundaries with safe diagnostics that protect data
  • Understanding of mobile package distribution, source and binary compatibility, dependency management, and release practices
  • Experience writing technical designs and aligning decisions across product, client, backend, edge, and security teams
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising a team's technical bar through design/code review and knowledge sharing
  • Empathetic, proactive, and constructive written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate within strict mobile performance budgets (binary size, battery use, startup time, main-thread overhead)
