Credit Risk Manager
About the role
Credit Risk Manager role in Monzo's Borrowing (lending) business, focusing on growth strategy, underwriting, and credit analytics for consumer lending in Ireland. Hybrid Dublin-based with occasional travel to London, data-driven decision making, and embedding in product squads.
Responsibilities
- Working closely with Borrowing squad leadership to develop and execute an ambitious growth strategy
- Collaborating with people from engineering, marketing, product, risk and control to design and deliver new products and customer journeys
- Leading the development and maintenance of the NPV models and affordability strategies that underpin the Borrowing underwriting decisions
- Monthly monitoring and reporting on Borrowing performance to stakeholders up to executive level
- Collaborating with the Decision Science team to maximise value from our internal and external data through cutting-edge ML models
- Promoting a culture of proactive, high quality analysis and ensure we have the right credit capabilities, infrastructure and talent in place to scale safely
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in unsecured lending in Ireland
- Deep understanding of lending economics and experience developing and deploying underwriting strategies and credit models
- Strong analytical and data capabilities, with coding skills (SQL, Python) and Looker experience as a plus
- Experience with development and maintenance of NPV models
- Strong understanding of regulations applicable to lending in Ireland
- Ability to communicate complex problems and articulate decision points to senior leadership
- Experience in project management and coordination across teams
- Collaborative team player with diverse skill-sets and personalities
- Motivated to create a positive impact for customers and Monzo
