About the role

Pricing & Risk Analyst to help Kin grow profitably across states and segments by analyzing state performance, pricing, and risk. Entry-level; focuses on data-driven recommendations using AI tools (Databricks Genie, Claude Code) with guidance from senior colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Own recurring state performance reporting on quote volume, quote-to-bind conversion, new business, premium, retention, and loss experience, and investigate what's driving changes in results
  • Analyze performance across geography, risk characteristics, coverage, and distribution channels to surface growth opportunities and segments that need closer review
  • Evaluate how proposed rate changes, underwriting rules, and shifts in business mix could affect growth and profitability
  • Build and maintain competitive research that informs state comparisons and points to potential product or pricing opportunities
  • Use Databricks Genie to explore data, and Claude Code to write SQL queries, build analytical scripts, automate recurring reports, and document findings
  • Bring relevant data and business context into analytical workflows through approved MCP connections
  • Validate data, calculations, and AI-generated outputs; document sources and assumptions, and raise questions early when results look uncertain or inconsistent
  • Deliver clear charts and concise summaries for Pricing and Risk and partner teams, developing recommendations alongside experienced colleagues
  • Measure performance after pricing, underwriting, and product changes go live

Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships, coursework, and analytical projects count

  • Foundational SQL skills and proficiency with Excel or similar spreadsheet tools
  • Experience analyzing data to identify patterns, investigate questions, and explain findings
  • Hands-on experience using AI for analytical or coding tasks (academic or personal projects count), and willingness to regularly use and build proficiency in Claude Code, Databricks Genie, and MCP-enabled workflows
  • Attention to detail and the judgment to question and verify AI-generated results before relying on them
