About the role
Senior Compliance Officer in 2LoD guiding and protecting Starling Bank, providing expert regulatory compliance advice, oversight to 1LoD, and ensuring good customer outcomes. 12-month fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
- Provide product specific advice as part of a high performing Conduct & Compliance Advice team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory compliance and conduct related advice, guidance and support, with independent challenge and oversight to 1LoD/business teams.
- Cover all current and future products, services and activities across the Bank, plus overarching compliance requirements (Consumer Duty, conduct risk, SMCR, outsourcing, product governance, vulnerable customers, complaints, conflicts of interest).
- Build strong relationships with 1LoD to foster a collaborative Compliance/business environment.
- Support development/implementation of conduct risk and compliance frameworks and policies in line with the Bank’s Enterprise-Wide.
- Support with the Compliance Team’s monthly reporting packs.
- Approve and sign off financial promotions and marketing across all Bank products/services.
- Oversee submission of SMF applications to Regulators and maintain up-to-date Management Responsibilities Map.
Qualifications
- Deep working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices in compliance and financial services (BCOBs, CONC, LSB, PSD2, SYSC, MCOBs advantageous).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship building and influencing skills with senior management and committees.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret business knowledge.
- Detailed knowledge and experience identifying key Conduct and Compliance risks.
- Sound judgement, planning and prioritisation, ability to drive to resolution.
- Proactive ownership and oversight of emerging and existing compliance/conduct issues and risks.
- Curious, inquisitive approach, questioning status quo where appropriate.
- Resilient and able to handle difficult conversations.
- Willingness to share knowledge and collaborate across product lines.
