About the role

UX Writer role at Emergent, a YC-backed AI app builder. Responsible for owning UX writing and content design across the product, translating complex AI concepts into clear, user-friendly language and building scalable content systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own UX writing and content design across the Emergent product, creating clear, intuitive, and engaging experiences for users
  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Researchers, and business stakeholders to shape product experiences from concept to launch
  • Translate complex product, technical, and AI concepts into simple, accessible language
  • Write and refine UI copy across onboarding, navigation, empty states, errors, notifications, tooltips, prompts, forms, and other interaction points
  • Develop content strategies and voice-and-tone guidelines for a consistent product experience
  • Collaborate with UX Researchers and Product Designers to translate user insights into better experiences
  • Use content to simplify workflows, reduce confusion, improve usability, and drive activation and adoption
  • Establish and evolve content standards, terminology, and reusable components
  • Work with Design Systems and Product teams to scale content patterns across experiences
  • Advocate for clear, inclusive, accessible, human-centered communication
  • Present content decisions to stakeholders with user and business rationale
  • Contribute to UX writing processes, documentation, content workflows, and content operations across the organization

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience in UX Writing, Content Design, Product Writing, or closely related field
  • Strong experience writing for digital products with understanding of how language shapes user experience and behavior
  • Proven ability to simplify complex concepts and workflows into clear product experiences
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, Researchers, and Engineers in cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, user journeys, interaction design, and usability
  • Excellent command of written English with focus on clarity, tone, grammar, consistency, and detail
  • Ability to develop and maintain voice-and-tone guidelines, content principles, terminology, and UX writing standards
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills to defend content decisions with user/business context
  • Experience with design/collaboration tools such as Figma, FigJam, Miro, Notion or similar
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong UX writing / content design impact
