About the role

Senior Software Engineer role on Elastic's Streams UI team, contributing to Fleet and Streams in Kibana, shaping the user interface, architecture discussions, and end-to-end ownership of complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement intuitive user interface components using TypeScript, React, and Node.js; integrate front-end with back-end services; conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback.
  • Own complex, loosely-defined problems end-to-end: shape the approach, split work, make key technical decisions, and deliver.
  • Lead discussions on architecture and system design with attention to trade-offs, backwards compatibility, performance, and scale.
  • Establish coding standards, promote reusable components, implement automated testing and deployment, evaluate new technologies, and document best practices for team-wide sharing.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure standards, identify security vulnerabilities, maintain readability, and facilitate team discussions.
  • Collaborate asynchronously across timezones with a fully-distributed team, using GitHub and Slack.
  • Partner with designers and product managers to translate mockups into UI components and ensure consistent visual design; participate in idea generation for UI improvements.

Qualifications

  • Solid production experience with full-stack JavaScript, preferably TypeScript; React on the front end and Node.js on the back end; Reactflow experience a plus.
  • Track record of leading non-trivial projects end-to-end with design ownership and minimal guidance.
  • Proficient architecture and system-design judgment for large, existing codebases.
  • Experience designing and launching multiple UI components that significantly increased user engagement.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; excitement for async collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Multiplier mindset to elevate engineers around you.
  • Generalist mindset with a user-focused approach.
