About the role

Senior Software Engineer role on Elastic's Streams UI team, shaping and enhancing the user interface for Fleet (Elastic Agent management in Kibana) and Streams (log data handling).

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement intuitive user interface components using TypeScript, React, and Node.js; integrate front-end with back-end services; conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback.
  • Own complex, loosely-defined problems end-to-end: shape approach, split work, make key technical decisions, deliver.
  • Lead architecture and system design discussions with attention to trade-offs, backwards compatibility, performance, and scale.
  • Establish coding standards, promote reusable components, implement automated testing and deployment, evaluate new technologies and document best practices.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure standards, identify security vulnerabilities, maintain readability, and facilitate team discussions.
  • Collaborate asynchronously across timezones with a fully distributed team, using GitHub and Slack.
  • Partner with designers and product managers to translate mockups into UI components and ensure consistent visual design; participate in brainstorming for UI enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Solid production experience with full-stack JavaScript, preferably TypeScript; React on the frontend and Node.js on the backend; Reactflow experience is a plus.
  • Track record of leading non-trivial projects end-to-end with design ownership and minimal guidance.
  • Proficient architecture and system-design judgment for large codebases.
  • Experience designing and launching multiple UI components that increased user engagement.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with async collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Multiplier mindset: helps peers grow; generalist with user-focused mindset.
