About the role

Senior Software Engineer role on Elastic’s Streams UI team focusing on Fleet and Streams, collaborating with designers and product managers to deliver a high-quality, data-rich UI for observability and data ingestion workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement intuitive user interface components using TypeScript, React, and Node.js; integrate front-end with back-end services; conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback.
  • Own complex, loosely-defined problems end-to-end: shape the approach, split the work, make key technical decisions, and deliver.
  • Lead architecture and system design discussions, considering trade-offs, backwards compatibility, performance, and scale.
  • Establish coding standards, promote reusable components, implement automated testing and deployment, and document best practices.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, ensure coding standards, identify potential security vulnerabilities, and maintain readability.
  • Collaborate asynchronously across timezones with a distributed team via GitHub and Slack.
  • Partner with designers and product managers to translate mockups into functional UI components and ensure consistent visual design.

Qualifications

  • Solid production experience with full-stack JavaScript (preferably TypeScript) including React on frontend and Node.js on backend; Reactflow exposure a plus.
  • Track record of leading non-trivial projects end-to-end with design ownership and minimal guidance.
  • Proficient architecture and system-design judgment in large, existing codebases.
  • Experience designing and launching multiple UI components that increased user engagement.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable with async collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Multiplier mindset and ability to elevate surrounding engineers.
  • Generalist with a user-focused mindset.
