About the role

Senior Software Engineer role on Elastic's Streams UI team, working on Fleet and Streams to manage Elastic Agent and log data with a focus on UI components, architecture, and collaboration across design, product, and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement intuitive user interface components using TypeScript, React, and Node.js. Integrate front-end with back-end services and conduct usability testing to drive improvements.
  • Own complex, loosely-defined problems end-to-end: shape the approach, split the work, make key technical decisions, and deliver.
  • Lead discussions on architecture and system design with attention to trade-offs, backwards compatibility, performance, and scale.
  • Establish coding standards, promote reusable components, implement automated testing and deployment, evaluate new technologies, and document best practices.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, ensure coding standards, identify potential security vulnerabilities, and maintain code readability.
  • Collaborate asynchronously across time zones with a distributed team, working in the open on GitHub and in Slack.
  • Partner with designers and product managers to translate mockups into functional UI components and ensure visual consistency.

Qualifications

  • Solid production experience with full-stack JavaScript (preferably TypeScript); React on frontend and Node.js on backend. Experience with Reactflow is a plus.
  • A track record of leading non-trivial projects end-to-end with design ownership and minimal guidance.
  • Proficient architecture and system-design judgment for large, existing codebases.
  • Experience designing and launching multiple UI components that increased user engagement.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication and enthusiasm for async collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Multiplier mindset to uplift engineers around you.
  • Generalist mindset with a user-focused approach.
