About the role

Role focused on defining and delivering CI/CD and release infrastructure at Elastic, with emphasis on platform-wide improvements, supply chain security, and incident leadership. Leads multi-quarter projects, mentors others, and remains hands-on while enabling teams to ship faster and more securely.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and technical vision for CI/CD, from problem identification through org-wide adoption.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, or security risks in CI/CD and drive remediation proactively.
  • Design and enforce release gates covering supply chain integrity, artifact provenance, and release readiness, scalable across teams.
  • Direct engineers on multi-quarter projects: break down architecture, assign work, own outcomes even with distributed execution.
  • Drive technical communication and alignment across teams; produce high-quality documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity supply chain or release incidents and drive structural improvements.
  • Raise engineering standards through code review, mentorship, design review, and setting voluntary standards.
  • Remain hands-on at the right depth (code review, prototyping, debugging production issues) while leveraging the work of others.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in CI/CD and hardening release pipelines against supply chain attacks.
  • Strong debugging instincts across the full pipeline stack (test runner → artifact store → cluster deployment).
  • Hands-on with CI infrastructure (Buildkite, GitHub Actions or equivalent), GitOps/ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
  • Use of AI to accelerate personal and team work; understanding AI’s impact on supply chain security and scale.
  • Track record of multi-quarter, cross-org ownership and delivering measurable change across teams.
  • Judgment to push back on plans when needed and ability to gain alignment on better approaches.
  • Experience directing other engineers toward outcomes, breaking down complex problems into executable work.
