About the role

Role focused on defining and driving CI/CD roadmap, security, and release infrastructure at Elastic. Leads multi-quarter projects, mentors engineers, and acts as Incident Commander for high-severity supply chain or release incidents, with hands-on capability balanced by leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and technical vision for CI/CD, from problem identification through org-wide adoption.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, or security risks in CI/CD and drive remediation proactively.
  • Design and enforce release gates covering supply chain integrity, artifact provenance, and release readiness, scalable across teams.
  • Direct engineers on multi-quarter projects: break down architecture, assign work, own outcomes in distributed execution.
  • Drive technical communication and alignment across teams; produce high-quality documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity supply chain or release incidents and implement structural improvements after incidents.
  • Raise the engineering bar through code review, mentorship, design review, and setting adoptable standards.
  • Remain hands-on at the right depth by reviewing code, prototyping approaches, and debugging production issues; leverage is through others’ work.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in CI/CD and hardening release pipelines against supply chain attacks.
  • Strong debugging instincts across the full pipeline stack from test runner to artifact store to cluster deployment.
  • Hands-on with CI infrastructure (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), GitOps/ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
  • Use of AI to accelerate work and understanding AI's impact on supply chain security and scale.
  • Track record of multi-quarter, cross-org ownership with impact beyond direct reports.
  • Judgment to push back on flawed plans and ability to align on better approaches.
  • Experience directing work of other engineers toward outcomes and breaking down complex problems into executable work.
