About the role

Lead the CI/CD and release infrastructure across Elastic, focusing on scalable, secure release pipelines, supply chain integrity, and cross-team collaboration. Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity incidents and drive architectural improvements while mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and technical vision for CI/CD, from problem identification through org-wide adoption.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, or security risks in CI/CD and drive remediation proactively.
  • Design and enforce release gates covering supply chain integrity, artifact provenance, and release readiness, scalable across teams.
  • Direct engineers on multi-quarter projects: break down architecture, assign work, own the outcome.
  • Drive technical communication and alignment across teams; produce high-quality documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity supply chain or release incidents; use incidents as forcing functions for improvements.
  • Raise the engineering bar through code review, mentorship, design review, and setting adoptable standards.
  • Remain hands-on at the right depth: review code, prototype approaches, and debug production issues, while leveraging others to deliver outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in CI/CD and hardening release pipelines against supply chain attacks.
  • Strong debugging instincts across the full pipeline stack (test runner to artifact store to cluster deployment).
  • Hands-on with CI infrastructure (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), GitOps/ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience using AI to accelerate work and understanding of AI’s impact on supply chain security and scale.
  • Track record of multi-quarter, cross-org ownership: identifying problems, designing solutions, and driving changes across teams.
  • Judgment to push back on a plan when needed and credibility to align on better approaches.
  • Experience directing work of other engineers toward outcomes, breaking down complex problems into executable work.
