About the role

Role focused on defining and delivering the CI/CD, release infrastructure, and supply-chain security improvements across Elastic, leading multi-quarter projects, incident response, and driving organizational adoption while staying hands-on where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and technical vision for CI/CD, from problem identification through org-wide adoption.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, or security risks in CI/CD before incidents and drive remediation.
  • Design and enforce release gates covering supply chain integrity, artifact provenance, and release readiness, scalable across teams.
  • Direct engineers on multi-quarter projects: break down architecture, assign work, own outcomes in distributed execution.
  • Drive technical communication and alignment across teams, producing high-quality documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity supply chain or release incidents, using incidents to drive improvements.
  • Raise the engineering bar through code review, mentorship, design review, and setting voluntary standards.
  • Remain hands-on at the right depth: review code, prototype approaches, and debug production issues, leveraging others' work for impact.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in CI/CD and hardening release pipelines against supply chain attacks.
  • Strong debugging instincts across the full pipeline stack from test runner to artifact store to cluster deployment.
  • Hands-on with CI infrastructure (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), GitOps/ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience using AI to accelerate work and understanding AI's impact on supply chain security and scale.
  • Track record of multi-quarter, cross-org ownership: identifying problems, designing solutions, and influencing other teams.
  • Judgment to push back on flawed plans and ability to align stakeholders on better approaches.
  • Experience directing engineers toward outcomes, breaking down complex problems into executable work.
