About the role

Role focused on shaping and delivering CI/CD, release infrastructure, and security for the Elastic platform. Senior engineering leadership aligning multi-quarter programs, incident leadership, and hands-on review while driving organization-wide adoption and security improvements in the CI/CD pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Define the roadmap and technical vision for CI/CD, from problem identification through org-wide adoption.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction, or security risks in CI/CD and drive remediation.
  • Design and enforce release gates covering supply chain integrity, artifact provenance, and release readiness, scalable across teams.
  • Direct engineers on multi-quarter projects: break down architecture, assign work, own outcomes with distributed execution.
  • Drive clear technical communication and alignment across teams, producing high-quality documentation for systems, processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as Incident Commander on high-severity supply chain or release incidents, driving structural improvements.
  • Raise the engineering bar through code review, mentorship, design review, and setting voluntary standards.
  • Remain hands-on at the right depth: review code, prototype approaches, and debug production issues; primary leverage is through others' work.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in CI/CD and hardening release pipelines against supply chain attacks.
  • Strong debugging instincts across the full pipeline stack (test runner, artifact store, cluster deployment).
  • Hands-on with CI infrastructure (Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), GitOps/ArgoCD, and Kubernetes.
  • Use of AI to accelerate work and understanding AI impact on supply chain security and scale.
  • Track record of multi-quarter, cross-org ownership: problem identification, solution design, and driving changes across organizations.
  • Judgment to push back on flawed plans and credibility to align on better approaches.
  • Experience directing engineers toward outcomes, breaking down complex problems into executable work.
