About the role

Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) who will work with customers to build and productionize solutions on the Databricks platform. Responsible for architecture, design decisions, and end-to-end implementation spanning data engineering, AI, and application development. Customer-facing, billable role focused on delivering production-grade solutions with strong customer empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Production Solution Delivery: Lead impactful customer technical projects by delivering production-grade systems, designing and building reference architectures, custom applications, and data ingestion and ML/AI model integration
  • Transformational Impact: Guide strategic customers with end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications; scope technical delivery with input from the customer and engagement managers
  • Empower Customers: Guide customers on architecture and design; bootstrap or implement customer projects to drive understanding, evaluation and adoption of Databricks
  • Own the Architecture: Lead architecture and design decisions ensuring secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices
  • Collaborate across teams: Work with Databricks technical team, Project Manager, Architect and Customer teams to deliver engagement components
  • Feedback & Support: Coordinate with Engineering and Databricks Customer Support to provide product and implementation feedback and facilitate rapid issue resolution
  • Customer Immersion: Embed with customer teams from ICs to executives to understand challenges and deliver impact
  • Reusable Assets & Scale: Contribute accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale across accounts and influence product roadmap

Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks
  • Experience with two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one
  • Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments
  • Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs
  • Design and deployment of performant production end-to-end data architectures and applications combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces
  • Experience with technical project delivery—managing scope, timelines, and outcomes; translating complex concepts into actionable solutions
  • Documentation and white-boarding skills
  • Experience working with enterprise clients and managing conflicts across stakeholders
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to explore new technologies to support deployment/integration of Databricks solutions
  • Travel to customers 20% of the time
  • Databricks Certification
