About the role

Independent contractor role for finance-focused task design and evaluation within Patronus AI’s research team. Remote, asynchronous work delivering realistic finance tasks, working documents, solution reasoning, and scoring rubrics to support frontier AI model evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Build realistic evidence files from provided scenarios (e.g., trial balances, reconciliations, forecast models, variance reports, financial models, investment memos, audit workpapers).
  • Write task requests specifying deliverables and handling of uncertainty/assumptions.
  • Solve each task end to end and document a reference solution with step-by-step reasoning.
  • Write precise scoring criteria ensuring consistency between independent graders.
  • Check own and peers' tasks for accuracy and ambiguity.
  • Work in reviewer feedback within agreed turnaround times and flag guideline gaps or edge cases.
  • Explain to the research team how work in your area is actually done (steps, documents, roles, workflows).
  • Review scenarios and documents produced by the team and flag unrealistic elements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, equity research, corporate development or audit.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, PCAOB/AICPA auditing standards, SOX, valuation methods, or management reporting conventions.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills and ability to trace figures to sources.
  • Clear, precise professional English writing.
  • Ability to work independently and asynchronously against deadlines.
