About the role

Senior Software Engineer responsible for architecting, designing and building secure, scalable lending systems and APIs, leading technical design reviews, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering practices across testing, monitoring and delivery for Airwallex’s lending platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build robust services that power lending and credit products.
  • Build secure, scalable and well-documented APIs that let clients embed and consume credit products within their own offerings.
  • Lead design reviews, advise on systems architecture and mentor engineers to raise the bar on code quality and technical excellence.
  • Champion resilient, distributed systems that perform reliably at global enterprise scale.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver effective lending solutions and improve engineering practices across testing, code review, monitoring and delivery.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with strong exposure to modern engineering practices, continuous integration and quality engineering.
  • At least 2 years in a technical leadership role, mentoring engineers and leading the definition and execution of engineering strategy.
  • Strong computer science foundation and object-oriented programming skills, with proven experience building backend systems. Proficiency in Java or Kotlin and Spring / Spring Boot (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, with familiarity with modern API design principles and tools.
  • Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven architectures in production environments.
  • Proven track record designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, highly available distributed systems at scale.
  • Cloud experience with GCP or AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront), plus Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus.
