About the role

Joko is a certified B Corp and AI shopping app scaling globally. The People Operations Manager will own core people processes, ensure compliance, build HR systems/data, automate processes with AI, and deliver a human employee experience as the company grows from 100+ to 200+ employees across France, Spain, and the US.

Responsibilities

  • Run our core people processes end-to-end: Payroll, contracts, amendments, benefits, visas, and time off across France, Spain, and the US — accurate, compliant, and on time, every time — in smooth coordination with Finance, and handling sensitive data with integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in People Operations or HR administration in a fast-growing startup or scale-up environment.
  • Expertise: Strong foundation across People Ops topics, with depth in payroll, compliance, HR systems, or HR projects (at least one).
  • Payroll proficiency: End-to-end payroll experience with HRIS and payroll tools.
  • Legal & compliance: Strong knowledge of French labor law; international HR exposure (Spain or US) is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented & structured: Precision, organization, reliability in People Ops.
  • Analytical skills: Comfortable with data (headcount, payroll, reporting).
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: Ownership, feedback-oriented, proactive.
  • AI fluency: Experience using AI tools to automate People Ops tasks.
  • Collaborative mindset: Prefers working in a small team with flexible ownership.
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English; Spanish a plus.
  • Location: Based in France or Spain.
