Engineering Manager - Americas
About the role
Engineering Manager responsible for leading 3-5 engineers, hiring 3-5 more, and guiding multiple teams (Product Engineering, Site Reliability, Design) within Ashby’s Americas engineering organization. Focus on feedback-driven technical leadership, coaching ICs, hiring, and driving department-wide initiatives while maintaining Ashby’s minimal-process, high-ownership culture.
Responsibilities
- Providing feedback on product and technical specs to help engineers identify where to cut scope or improve quality.
- Grow engineers to the point where they can take large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with little intervention.
- Jump into our systems and code to debug a customer issue, ship a small bug fix, or improve our developer experience.
- Propose and lead department and company-wide initiatives (e.g., PR review process improvements, interview design improvements, data generation in demo accounts).
Qualifications
- Former engineer with leadership experience; demonstrated ability to build and scale engineering teams.
- Experience hiring and managing multiple teams across different specializations (Product Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, Design Engineers).
- Strong technical background to participate in codebase work and system debugging.
- Ability to influence product and technical decisions without owning final authority.
