About the role

Senior ML Engineer role within Match Group AI, working across Match Group's portfolio (e.g., Tinder, Hinge, Azar, Pairs, Match, BLK) to build scalable AI solutions across domains such as Recommendation, Trust & Safety, and Profile Enhancement. Hybrid, Seoul, South Korea.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the Problem: define concrete problem and technical direction from broad goals
  • Define What Success Means: translate goals into a measurable metric and evaluation criteria
  • Design the Model and the Data Behind It: select modeling approach and design data collection/processing pipelines
  • Drive Execution Across Teams: align multiple functions and global offices around a shared plan
  • Lead complex ML projects end-to-end from rough goal to measurable outcome
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineers, product partners, and brand counterparts across Seoul, Palo Alto, LA, Vancouver, Dallas, Tokyo

Qualifications

  • Project Ownership (most important): proven track record of leading a complex ML project from rough goal to deliverable
  • Depth and Breadth in AI/ML: broad knowledge across AI/ML domains with deep expertise in at least one; PhD or 5+ years of experience or equivalent
  • Problem Definition and Technical Judgment: ability to convert goals into solvable ML problems with sound decisions
  • Data Literacy: ability to perform exploratory data analysis to inform problem framing
  • ML Frameworks and Tooling: proficiency in Python and PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX; experience in training/evaluation/serving systems
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: experience leading projects spanning multiple functions
  • Professional English: ability to conduct business meetings in English
  • Fluent Korean: native-level professional interactions in Korean (essential for Seoul office)
  • Global Operational Readiness: willingness to accommodate flexible hours for US-team syncs
