About the role

Microsoft Azure Data engineering team seeking Software Development Engineers to contribute to the Azure PostgreSQL area, focusing on relational database engine components and potentially open-source contributions. Role involves designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining features for a production backend, with on-call duties and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Works with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features
  • Contributes to architecture discussions and tests design hypotheses to refine code plans
  • Creates a plan for testing and quality assurance and defines success criteria for tests
  • Implements code for products/services/features, writing extensible and maintainable code
  • Maintains live service operations on a rotational on-call basis, identifying solutions and mitigations for issues
  • Builds knowledge and improves developer tools, uses open source where appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience
