About the role
The first dedicated security leader at Candid Health, responsible for building the security team and systems to protect customers and patients, in partnership with Engineering and Product leadership to move fast while maintaining data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Scale and Lead a Security Engineering Organization: Interview, hire, and manage a team of security engineers overseeing Risk, Compliance, Threat Management, Product and Application Security.
- Build and Own the Security Roadmap: Transition from foundational security posture to enterprise-grade security organization.
- Drive Security Prioritization at a Leadership Level: Act as the SME and set prioritization of security initiatives and risk mitigation in partnership with executive leadership.
- Lead Trust & Transparency Efforts: Oversee HIPAA, SOC2, SOC1, PCI and HITRUST; support audits and maintain ongoing processes, representing security to enterprise customers.
- Act as a Security Evangelist and Culture Carrier: Educate and empower ~200 employees and collaborate across teams to promote a security-first, compliant organization.
- Manage Third-party Relationships: Coordinate with vendors for penetration testing and security services, review vendor security prior to integration.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of security engineering experience with a proven track record of building and leading teams in startup and scaled environments.
- Experience driving security compliance rituals and processes at organizational scope.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and handling sensitive information.
- Adaptable to engage with security challenges at enterprise and customer levels.
- Hands-on ability to read, understand, and audit systems, networks, and IT setups, while effectively delegating when appropriate.
