About the role

Senior Software Engineer focusing on JVM-based frameworks to own and maintain critical parts of ClickHouse's data engineering ecosystem, building connectors, SDKs, and data framework integrations for high-performance streaming data processing.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of data framework integrations—from core database driver handling billions of records per second to SDKs and connectors that make ClickHouse native in JVM-based applications.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, data-intensive solutions within the JVM ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with open-source communities, internal teams, and enterprise users to ensure JVM integrations meet performance, reliability, and developer experience standards.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software development experience with data-intensive solutions.
  • Strong experience with streaming or data integration frameworks (preference for Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, Apache Flink, Apache Beam).
  • Experience developing or extending connectors/sinks/sources for streaming processing frameworks (preference for production-grade streaming connectors).
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar distributed messaging systems (e.g., Pulsar, Kinesis); topic design, consumer groups, performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding of SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and OLAP/analytical databases.
  • Track record of building scalable data integration systems beyond simple ETL jobs.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and JVM ecosystem; memory management, GC tuning, performance profiling.
  • Experience with concurrent programming in Java (threads, executors, reactive/asynchronous patterns).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-team collaboration.
  • Understanding of JDBC, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), and data throughput optimization.
  • Passion for open-source development.
