About the role

Controller (Director Level) role reporting to CFO to scale core accounting functions, close, controls, compliance, and reporting for a fast-growing fintech health startup.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Governance & Scale: Own all day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR/invoicing, payroll, tax compliance, and R&D tax credit filings. Own the month-end close process and manage our 3rd party accounting firm to ensure timely closes, accurate reporting, and high-quality deliverables.
  • AI & Automation: Uplevel our ERP system and implement scalable finance systems to automate invoicing, reconciliation, and procurement to handle 200%+ year-over-year growth.
  • Internal Controls: Manage and own our internal controls and procurement processes.
  • Truth Seeking: Act as a "truth seeker" for the leadership team, providing granular financial breakdowns and actionable insights that go beyond standard reporting.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of accounting experience, ideally in managing and maturing financial processes from Series B/C to later stages
  • CPA and SOX experience is preferred
  • Big 4 background likely, proficient in O2C, P2P, H2R, and R2R
  • Experience implementing financial systems and using data tools (SQL) to validate financial data
  • Comfortable with AI to reduce grunt work in accounting
  • Excellent executive advisory and partnership skills, ability to influence across the organization, thrive in ambiguity
