About the role

Senior backend-focused role building ClickHouse Cloud integrations with external platforms and partners. Own end-to-end integration design, code, production system, and architectural decisions across trust boundaries, data movement, and multi-tenancy. Remote Canada. Opportunity to define technical direction as part of a founding backend engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • - Owning an integration end to end: the design, the code, and the production system that keeps running after launch.
  • - Owning the architecture: auth and identity flows, multi-tenancy, how data moves and where it's allowed to live, performance, and production behavior
  • - Running what you build: on-call for your own work, owning infrastructure, CI, deployment, and observability
  • - Working on top of external platforms you can't change, and clarifying risks you own
  • - Partnering with internal teams: define interfaces, unblock progress, write design docs and RFCs

Qualifications

  • - 5+ years building software, with significant experience in data-heavy or integration-focused systems
  • - Solid backend and systems instincts: deployment topology, multi-tenancy, data movement
  • - Experience with modern auth protocols, service principals, and identity federation across trust boundaries
  • - Experience building on someone else’s platform: dealing with incomplete docs and breaking changes
  • - Comfort with ambiguity and shipping before the spec is finished
  • - Ability to collaborate with other engineers and earn trust beyond own team
  • - Primarily a backend engineer, with comfortable familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • - Proficiency with AI tools and ability to document work clearly
  • - Strong writing skills for design docs, PRs, and RFCs
