About the role

Lead the Quality Engineering strategy for the Pairs app, building automated testing, quality visualization, and AI-assisted development capabilities to maintain high quality while accelerating development speed.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate the company-wide Quality Engineering strategy and build an environment where AI agents can accelerate development without sacrificing quality
  • Design and implement automated test infrastructure, test data, CI/CD quality checks, and continuous feedback mechanisms
  • Create an environment where developers and AI agents can detect changes and quality issues and drive fixes
  • Continuously measure test coverage, test execution, defect detection, production defects, and incidents to visualize development speed and quality
  • Identify quality bottlenecks from data and drive improvements in processes, test strategy, architecture, and tooling
  • Collaborate with each development team to establish autonomous quality-improvement processes and operations
  • Lead hands-on selection, design, implementation, and review of test automation and quality infrastructure technologies
  • Manage and develop Quality Engineering team members including goal setting and hiring
  • Work with Product Managers and development teams to define and track product-critical quality signals and metrics for ongoing improvement

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Software Engineer, SET, SDET, QA Engineer, Quality Engineer or related role with software development or test automation experience
  • Experience designing and implementing tests for web/mobile/backend systems
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with multi-layer test automation (unit, integration, E2E, API)
  • Experience embedding automated tests and quality checks into CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to analyze test coverage, defects, incidents, and release quality data to drive improvements
  • Experience leading cross-team and cross-stakeholder quality improvements
  • Engineering or Quality Engineering team management experience
  • Proficient Japanese communication skills
