About the role

Senior to Staff+ level software engineer role focused on defining technical strategy, building from scratch, and delivering AI-powered, scalable full-stack products in Samsara's Connected Operations Cloud. Remote role open to Canada/US with emphasis on owning end-to-end systems, AI/data-driven products, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas and lead them from inception to demo.
  • Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to the customer-facing UI.
  • Design and ship full-stack features end to end across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile to deliver AI-powered products.
  • Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous real-world problems into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and workflows that put intelligence into operators’ hands.
  • Raise the bar through code/design reviews, mentorship, and setting quality/velocity/craft standards.
  • Champion Samsara’s cultural principles in global scaling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including building and operating production systems at scale.
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile).
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar.
  • Experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects from inception through rollout, driving alignment and impact.
  • Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products (training not required).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of delivering zero-to-one products or meaningful systems improvements.
