About the role

Senior Consulting Engineer role for ClickHouse, delivering consultative support and project engineering across enterprise customers globally, with focus in Japan. Hybrid/remote, travel up to 35% onsite in Tokyo.

Responsibilities

  • Project Engineering & Consulting (50%): design, architecture, integration, implementation, documentation; research, benchmarking, performance testing, reference architectures, sizing, migration, development, tooling.
  • Consultative Support (50%): provide case-initiated consultative support to strategic users, customers, and prospects; assist with implementation, onboarding, production launches, and POCs.
  • Provide architectural, technical, and migration assistance, including hands-on tasks.
  • Work as a member of the Support Team handling L1-L3 cases when not on projects.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Sales on roadmap and account plans.
  • Develop and assist with content (documentation, Knowledge Base, Learning, Reference Architecture, blogs, benchmarks).
  • Assist with hiring and mentoring new team members as we scale.
  • Available for scheduling and on-call needs to deliver 24x7 support (up to 35% onsite regional travel).

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Professional Services, Support, Technical Accounts Management, Engineering/SRE, and/or Project Management roles.
  • 5+ years in implementing, operating, and/or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant distributed DBMS.
  • Technical breadth in DBMS, OLAP, Cloud/SaaS, distributed systems, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, System/Network Administration, and big data.
  • Experience leading and shipping large-scale technical projects with multiple engineers.
  • Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their IaaS offerings (e.g. EC2).
