About the role

Team focuses on strategic workloads in M365 (e.g., Copilot App, Outlook, Teams, Copilot Extensibility) and AI-powered engineering infrastructure. Responsible for data ingestion, data curation, prompt/model fine-tuning, evaluation metrics, and AI-infused productivity products. Requires collaboration across Microsoft AI platforms, models, and products, with leadership of feature crews and a commitment to Responsible AI.

Responsibilities

  • Master a broad area or research and understand applicable research techniques; act as team expert on industry trends and product changes and influence product needs.
  • Review business and product requirements, incorporate research, and provide strategic direction for problem solving; ensure scientific rigor and support method development for business impact.
  • Identify and inspire peers and new research talent to join Microsoft; build relationships and advocate for research initiatives; share findings with industry and collaborate with academia; help develop recruiting pipeline.
  • Document work and experimentation results; share findings to promote innovation; provide guidance on capturing processes and contribute to ethics and privacy policies related to research processes and data collection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (or Master's/Doctorate as detailed in description)
  • Equivalent experience
